Edgewood was founded in the early 1930's as the homestead of a number of families that still maintain deep roots in the community. Located 20 miles east of Albuquerque and 51 miles south of Santa Fe, Edgewood lies at the base of the eastern slope of the Sandia mountains, and features some wooded areas and also areas of open plains, all offering outstanding views.
In recent years, Edgewood has grown rapidly, as easy commuting along I-40, the cooler weather on the east side of the mountains, and the availability of acreage for horse-keeping, gardening, or just plain privacy have prompted many former Albuquerque residents to move to the "green side."
Edgewood has an ever-growing array of amenities to offer its residents, including a community center, senior citizens and youth programs, and a constantly increasing number of small businesses of every type.
